It all started in back in 2008 with a couple women throwing a ball around after watching the men’s games. The ladies would always go watch, then have a small scrimmage afterwards for fun. The guys were great at helping them learn how to play. One night, Meghan Brazil was approached and asked if the ladies wanted to start their very own league! Why not? They bought a few sticks, grabbed anyone who was interested in playing and it grew from there.
Flash forward to 2019, six ladies wanted to see ladies lacrosse in the community thrive, so they formed a committee comically called, The 6-Pack, under the not-for-profit organization known as the Ladies Lacrosse League.
What it's all about
Ladies Lacrosse is a safe and friendly place for ladies to play recreational lacrosse. The spring season starts right after hockey and ends before summer soccer and softball. We play with minimal equipment, a soft ball, and no contact. It’s a short 8-week season with teams playing 1-2 times a week. Available to ladies ages 16 and up.
Box lacrosse is played inside the confines of an ice hockey rink, with glass and rink boards intact. Each team has five runners and a goaltender on the floor during the game. The players rotate on and off the floor in 2-minute shifts. The game consists of three 15-minute periods.
Keep the fun going with our fall league, an 8-week practice and scrimmage. It’s a great way to get out of the house, improve your skills, and stay active!
After every game, win or lose, we reward ourselves with a drink! Because that’s the real reason for playing, right?
